For many years, Neša Travka has been surprising citizens of Nis and tourists with his culinary creativity and unusual dishes.
Nebojsa is a graduated eco-tourism specialist and mountaineer . He like tea, spices, healing herbs and mushrooms. He is also the author of the show “Neša Travka” on “Kitchen” TV.
He began to show interest for healthy nutrition in 2000, when he started mountaineering on mountain peaks in Serbia and abroad. He spent several years in Ortodox monastery in Greece – Hilandar, where he lovingly prepared meals for monks.
He realized that top quality gourmet specialties can be prepared from foodstuffs found in nature. Those meals can satisfy the senses of even the most discerning gourmets.
Part of the secret of Neša’s delicious dishes lies in the combination of spices and herbs. Neša also shares free advices with his guests on the healing effects of some of them. According to him – turmeric, with the addition of pepper which enhances its effect – is good for bile. The combination of cumin and beets contributes to better absorption of iron from beets, while cloves, for example, kill parasites in the body.
Last year, Neša created an “oasis of healing herbs and organic vegetables” near the church of St. Nicholas at the village Vidriste, 20 km from Nis. He often organizes interesting culinary events there, such as “Medieval lunch at Vidrište” or “Soup of 100 types of mushrooms”.
