Suva Planina (lit. Dry mountain) is located 20 km away from Niš. It was named Suva (dry), because there are almost no water sources at greater heights. Suva mountain extends from Niška Banja to the Lužnica Gorge with a height difference from 250 to 1810 meters. Suva Planina is a real heaven for adventurists, extreme sportsmen, alpinists and mountaineers

How to get there
By car: From Niska Banja, road leads through villages Jelasnica, Cukljenik, Donja Studena and Gornja Studena. Final destination is a mountain lodge at a place called Bojanine vode. There is beginning of mountain tracks to the peaks on Suva mountain.
By bus: Bus no 21 , Nis- Gornja Studena (Bus station for local bus lines, near the main bus station,Djuke Dinic Street). Final destination is a mountain lodge at a place called Bojanine vode. There is beginning of mountain tracks to the peaks on Suva mountain. There is no bus line from Gornja Studena to Bojanine vode, so you hiking begins here. The distance between Gornja Studena and Bojanine vode is 5 km.

Flora and Fauna
According to the Law of Nature Conservation of Serbia, the area of Suva Planina is a special nature reserve. In this amazingly well preserved ecosystem, there are more than 139 bird species, 25 mammal species, 13 reptile, 259 insect and 86 butterfly species. Research shows that there are also 1.200 plant species of which 128 are endemic and 2 are relict – RamondaSerbica and RamondaNathaliae.A unique feature of Suva mountain is wild horses that still can be seen on its slopes.
